Once upon a time, a girl graduated college and suddenly found that she had a lot of free time on her hands. Once she no longer had to use her computer to only write papers, she wondered what other tricks it could do. One night while fiddling with the rodent contraption attached to it, she clicked a mysterious button and lo and behold, she had discovered something called the "Internet." She was amazed.
Consequently, on another electronic device that was in the same room with her computer (modern slang refers to this object as a "tv") at the time, she was open-mouth stunned by a new species that were surfacing in her country, scientifically classified and named "boy bands." They made her heart go pitter-patter, especially the breed named "Backstreet," but then the other ones grew on her too, like an irritating fungus that she never wanted to get rid of. Before she knew it, her life was enthralled with these homos eructus males.
But how could she express this newfound love without being killed by the other members of her clan, who had threatened her life if there was to be another mere utterance of the words "Howie" or "Nick" or "JC?" She could get away with "Chris" if she was sneaky, but only because a member of said clan was named the same. Once it was caught on though, she was brutally accosted for it. She could never speak such blasphemy again.
It took a while, because she is no rocket scientist, but she soon discovered that these two new revelations of International culture go together like peas and carrots. And, in fact, there were other people on this mysterious "Internet" who shared her passions.
So she read, and read, and made friends, and then decided to write herself. It was addicting, and she was fevered with it. After two years of het writing our heroine was sad, thinking she couldn't possibly tell one more story, she'd written everything she could think of.
But then she found a new strain, something dubbed as "slash" and it was like re-igniting the fire ten times over.
So she wrote, and wrote, and made some more friends, and now it's been nearly four years since she'd started this obsession and she's still enjoying the people, the stories, and the fandom immensely. And she likes it that way.
